Copy and Pasting Families from the Plumbing Warehouse

Hey guys, Ryan here. And now that we've set up Project X, we need to open up our plumbing warehouse file. So we have two different plumbing warehouses. We have the foundations warehouse and then we have the pro package warehouse. So I'm gonna be opening up the foundations package warehouse first.

So we'll go to file, open. I'm gonna go to the folder, Rev X foundations warehouse and click the Revit file and click open. And once I get to the start screen, I can then go to expand the views and go to plumbing, working, floor plans, and double click plumbing warehouse. And you could see that we have a subset of all of our families that we'll need for this project. So what I'd like you guys to do is just select all of the families in the view.

We're going to filter them by clicking filter up here, and then we don't need any of the tags. So I'm gonna uncheck tags here and we don't need text notes. So you should be getting model groups, pipe accessories, pipe fittings, plumbing equipment, and plumbing fixtures. Click Okay. And then once we have these, we can group them.

So let's create a group. We're gonna call this group Plumbing Fixtures, click Okay. And once that's group has been created, we can copy and paste it into our project. But I'd like you to copy and paste it using the project browser. So let's expand groups, go to model, and then let's go down to the plumbing fixtures group that we just created.

We'll right click, click on copy to clipboard, and then we'll go back to project X and we'll go to modify, paste, paste from clipboard. And I've already pasted these files or families into my project. So you won't have to see this. You can just click okay. And then all of the families that you'll need for the project will be in your project.

I'm gonna also open up the pro package to show you guys the difference. So if we go to file, open, let's open up the pro warehouse. So to navigate to the warehouse for the pro package, you'll go to the sheets and you can see we have warehouses, plumbing warehouse down here. And you can see that with the pro package, you have much more families associated with this warehouse. So our pro package contains all the families you'll need for any of your projects.

And if you don't have any of these families, or if you need a custom family, please reach out to us and we can help you build it. All right, so you can use the same process in the Pro package. So I'm just gonna double click into this view. And then if I want to select a bunch of these, I can hold control and select all the families I need, or I can just select almost everything, just like we did in that last exercise. So we can select all of these, we can hold control and select all of these, and then we could use the filter command and filter out anything we don't need.

So we don't need any tags, so I usually uncheck tags, we don't need reference planes or text notes, And so we'll keep everything else and we'll click okay. And then we can group them just like we did last time, click the group button. We'll call this Plumbing Fixtures Pro, hit okay. And then to copy them, paste them into your project, you can go down to the model groups and you could see this new group we created right here, Plumbing Fixtures Plow, we right click, copy to the clipboard. And then when we go into our Project X or any of the projects that you're working on, you can simply just paste from the clipboard like this.

And again, you'll see duplicate types that's because these families were already pasted in this project, but that's how you can do it. You can also, if you want to make it a little simpler instead of grouping, so let me ungroup this, You could simply just copy the fixtures you want to an area like right here. So I just copy the fixtures I need. I'll copy one more. Here's a mop sink.

We'll copy this one over here. And now that I have these in this space, I can just simply select them, copy them to the clipboard. And then once I go into my project, if I go to one of the floor plans, so let's go to views, plumbing, working, plumbing, working one. If I just hover into this floor plan and go to modify, paste from clipboard, hit okay, and then click some space, you can see that I've simply pasted the plumbing fixtures into my view, make sure you click finish. And now these fixtures have been copied and pasted into my project for use.

So you can also use that technique. So it really just depends on how many fixtures you have and how many you want to paste into your project. I'm gonna go ahead and undo that.
