Deleting Shared Parameters

Mechanical · Shared Parameters and Schedules · 1m

This lesson covers the process of deleting shared parameters in Revit, addressing the complexities that arise when parameters are linked across families and schedules. You'll learn how to effectively remove parameters from schedules, families, and the shared parameters file to maintain a clean and organized project.

Specific topics include identifying orphaned parameters, the step-by-step deletion process, and the importance of cross-referencing changes in the shared parameters file with your project elements.

How hard is it to remove parameters from everywhere when you've made a mistake or edit the parameter? Yeah. So to so to remove them, it really depends. It really depends on how far it's gone. So if so, like, just right now, those parameters, the ones that had the units on them, I got like, I could get rid of them pretty easily because I just you know, I took them out of the schedule, then I could come in here to my family, and I could take them out of my family.

Alright. Delete parameter. Delete parameter, etcetera. But then I also wanna go into my shared parameters file, edit it, and I want I would wanna go through and delete the parameter here. And that this is this is another for everything. You delete parameters. It's done. But I couldn't just come and delete it from the shared parameter file, and it wouldn't take it out. Like, if I took if I only remove the shared parameter from the file, it would still live in the family and in the schedule if I didn't take it out of there. It would be kind of this orphan shared parameter file, which would be a mess.
