And it's the most important thing to understand about schedules, which is why never to update the model number in the schedule. K. Here's my Roostopped yet schedule. Let's clean this up a bit. So I just want that. I want two RTUs to show up. I don't want that on my list. Okay. This so I'm gonna create a new type. This is gonna be no.
Type a is gonna be two ton. It's gonna be represent a two ton unit, and then I'm gonna create another one, and this is gonna be a 20 ton unit and 20 ton, and it's gonna be bigger. It's gonna be 20 feet long, and it's gonna be six feet wide, and it's gonna be eight feet tall and all this other stuff. Right? So really obvious which one is which here visually.
And we're going to update the model numb the I'm just gonna update the model. So the model is two ton. Right? A model number that represents two tons to make sure that just to make this easy to understand. So this one says the model is 20 ton. Alright. So we've got our RTU dash one is two ton unit. It's this one. It's the little one. RTU dash two, it's the 20 ton unit.
This one, it's the big one. Okay. So let's say that you're working on some markups, and on the markups, it says you're on the schedule sheet, so you're not even here. You're not even looking at the the sheets. And and there's a markup on the schedule, and it says, hey. RTU one is not supposed to be a two ton unit. It's supposed to be a 20 ton unit. So the markup just says, like, you know, a little dash that says 20 ton. So let's say you say, oh, okay. Fair enough. Right? Yep. Pony ton. And you note that, but you're still used to clicking okay on that, you just hit it. So now let's let's look at what's happened.
You've now got your schedule that says R t u one is a 20 ton unit, but the box is still like, I don't think you can fit 20 tons in that box. So you've just made you've just made a mistake that could be a big deal. So now this is saying it's 20 ton, but, obviously, construction is gonna be a little upset when they realize that this is actually need to be this size. Architect's probably gonna need to set all all sorts of things. So when you're doing data entry on this, like, yeah, you can enter in the CFMs and everything else pretty much in here, but the the model number and possibly also the weight and a few other things like that really need to understand what you're doing.
So I'm gonna control z that. So the model is 20 tons. So how how should I have done this? How should I have updated this? Well, it's the type. It's the type. So if the RTU, and this is gonna break my ductwork, but that's alright. So this if this really needs to be the 20 ton unit, I need to come here, and I need need to change the type to the 20 ton unit. And now it updates that model there, but the the actual unit itself. And this kind of gets at, like, the thing that needs to be understood when you're working with this stuff with the live Revit, you know, schedules and shared parameters of everything is they're part of the families.
They are connected to everything. And so when you change when you change the model number from 20 ton to 10 ton, you need to actually change the thing in in and of itself to be the correct unit.
