So we've got what I call magic boxes. These are just this is what we're gonna learn first. It's a stretchy box. It's actually quite powerful. I've done a lot of projects with just a stretchy box. This is the same box except its type parameters. The real magic is here. It's this family. So with this family, you can represent just about anything. You can represent a lot without even going into the family editor, but you can also go into family editor and make some quick and easy tweaks to represent just about any kind of equipment you want.

So what you can do well, as it says, the name of it is save me as, so let's follow the instructions. I'm just gonna hit the edit family button. File save as. And it doesn't matter where this goes, and I'm just gonna install it RTU DX bottom pawns RSA. And so there's a lot going on in here.

So I don't need these duct connectors. And this is a DX unit, so I don't need these chilled water connections. I'm we're gonna be building this in a second, so you'll you'll see where this is coming from. So that's alright. Then I can push it into my projects, load in a project and close. I don't need to save it. And at this point, I don't need to overwrite. Well, it's not even gonna ask me. So I've got this family. Let's get it up above let's get it up above the roofline, and then I can edit a lot of these.

So I can say this actually doesn't have the condensing unit section on it. I could say that the, you know, the length is actually 12 feet, and I could say that the outside air hood width is actually three feet. I can go through here. You know, presumably, I might have cut sheet in front of me, and I'm just conforming to the cut sheet instead of having to go to a rep or download from the Internet or that sort of thing. The supply air connection, so that's this one.

This is the supplier duct connection. I might say that the distance from the right is actually three feet. The distance from the rear is one foot. It's gonna move over there. So let's say I'm happy with this for a certain model, then I could copy this.

And without even having to go into the family editor, I could duplicate the type or type b. Type b. K. And then let's say that the duct connectors are the type where they're stacked 90 degrees from these. I can say this is an eight foot unit, and then the RA con height is three foot, and this is 1.5 foot.

And the supplier is also different. Did the wrong one. We're that's gonna be, like, two feet. Height width. Height, width. Distance from right is, like, five feet, something like that. Based on the, again, the cut sheet, you would get all this sorted. This right, like, four feet. So this is pretty powerful. I can do a lot.

And then from here, you know, let's say, okay. That's fine, but it's deadline day. Boss comes in. Engineer of record comes in, which might be you, and then says, oh, actually, the duct connections are on the top of this unit. This is a totally different unit, actually. Like, the these duct connectors aren't on the bottom. They need to be on the side or on the top. Well, you can just come into the at a family, again, do a save as, because it's significantly different. Save as. I'm gonna say d x top dot fonts.

And then here, we can just move this to the top. Move those constraints. Like, new. We could put this on any phase. We could put this on in the condenser unit if you want.

You could put it on the top side. You can even put it on there, which I don't recommend. I had escaped too quickly. And remove those constraints. Flip back around so it's pointed in the right direction, and then reset the parameters.

And we gotta make sure that the they've been wiped properly, and I believe they have. So then you would go and add the parameters that already exist to this one. So this is the connection distance from rear. And the other one is aligned, so it's kinda hard to see. I promise I won't talk too much, guys.

But the one thing, Tyler, you went over really fast was you're basically assigning a new host to that element. And so you clicked on the pick new new host button, and that's how you're able to move that around. Yeah. Ryan's kinda like the commentator for this. So then we go here, and this is the supplier distance from rear.

So you just quickly remap the parameters, and then we got those. This one's a little on my way. This is the return air distance from left, and this is the supplier distance from right. Yeah. I am going fast, and part of that's because we're about we're about to build all this stuff.

You'll see how we actually do it, which is part of the point of actually learning the skills of doing it from the beginning. So there we go. I need to do those to you guys. Then we push that into the project and paste it in, and we've got our top conduct system that will work. And we've actually already got the the two types.

Let me change this to other type. So it's the mirror image of that one because we already have those parameters in there. So that's cut that's just the scratching the surface of what we can do with this family out of the box. And not only do we have a condensing unit, we've got chilled water chilled water and hot water connections. We've got electrical connector, gas connector. We've got the condensate drain, and these can all be moved around and switched to wherever side they need to be. So this is a really adaptable family. You can rapidly turn it into anything you want. So there's there's kind of two skills here that we're gonna go over this. What I just demonstrated is how to use this family and modify it.

You could take this family and turn it into a fan coil unit, you know, a dyke and a h u style, horizontal or vertical, a gas furnace, d x equipment, hydronic equipment, up blast fans, all sorts of stuff, ERVs. So so that's that's that. But I'm I'm probably sure that unless you unless you're already pretty familiar with that family, you weren't really clear on what I was doing when I was modifying all those things. And we're gonna spend the rest of this session on is is understanding the skills and the building blocks of skills to where we can get to building something like this and then also operating something like this with a high level of confidence in what we're doing. So I'm going to delete all of this stuff, and we're gonna start from scratch.
