And now because it's kind of the star of this show, I wanna get my backgrounds cleaned up and applied to all my views. So let's take a quick look at mechanical floor plan o one. I'm going to hop into this view, and you can see that you can't see anything. You can't see the CAD backgrounds. I'm just gonna show why that is.

So if I go into visibility graphics, if we go to Revit links, project CAD, it says its display settings are set to by host view. So if I click through on that and I go to import categories tab, you can see that these DWGs are not checked. And if I go to import categories here, they're just not there. So it's just kind of a funny thing about Revit, When you do that by default, they're not gonna show up. This isn't a problem because we use a different method to get the backgrounds to show up, which I'll walk through now.

Point is is that out of the box, you're not going to see the backgrounds, and that's why we had to do something in visibility graphics to see where our CAD background was showing up in this view so we could set our scope boxes. Okay. So how we wanna do this is we wanna go to backgrounds by linked view, new work. Alright. There's still a little bit more room here.

And we wanna go to Revit by linked view o one, new work view. This is a view we use to set our essentially our backgrounds view that we want all of our floor plans to look like. So we can't see anything here and we're gonna go to Revit by link we're gonna go to the view template down here. And you'll notice that the view template here is set to only include VG overrides Revit links settings. It's not going to apply any settings for any of the other categories.

And if we go over to Mechanical Floor Plan o one, go to the view template, which is called IMCheat, you'll notice that most of the categories are included, but not VG overrides private links. That is to enable the workflow that we are about to do. So what I need to do is I need to set this view template settings to show the CAD link exactly the way I wanna show it, and then I will be able to flash this view template settings to all of my other floor one views. Let's walk through it. Click on the view template, and go to edit settings for the VG overrides Revit links.

And it's set to by host view, we're gonna select that. We're gonna change the radio button to by linked view, and we're gonna make sure that it is set to the correct floor plan. So what we're telling it to do is we're telling it to set the view settings for the Revit link to look exactly the way it looks on this view in the linked model. I'm gonna say okay, and the the only other thing we wanna do here is check underlay. That will make it halftone.

And say okay, and okay. And we should see it, and we're gonna see it exactly the way we set it up. So notice that the dimensions and the level and the door tags, those are all hidden the way that we showed them in the two d links model. So that looks good there and we're going to do the roof one as well. So again, view template, work that doesn't need to be checked.

Edit, it doesn't really matter, but uncheck it anyways. Check underlay, change it from by host view to by link view, and change it to the correct view. So roof in this case. Okay. And okay.

And so to demonstrate how this works, what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna come over here back to the mechanical floor plan o one view, which still has nothing visible on it. And I'm going to right click this view, and I'm going to say apply template properties. And I'm going to scroll down and I'm gonna select my Revit by links view, a one new work. And I'm going to say okay. And so what it's done is it has flashed the settings that I set in that view template to this view.

It's important to understand that it hasn't locked this view to the Revit by links o one new work view template. In other words, if I made changes, if I came back here to this view and I made changes to this view template, it wouldn't automatically apply them to all the views that I flashed the view template to. Because only one view template at a time can control actively all the settings. And for this view, this view is being controlled actively by the view template in sheet. But because in sheet has this hole in it for VG overrides Revit links, I was able to flash aka apply template properties from this view template.

So I flash them and they've been set. If I need to make an update to the backgrounds, I would need to reflash this view with that view template. Now you might be thinking to yourself, well, there's a lot of floor plan o ones in here, it would take a lot to go through and apply the background because none of these other views have backgrounds applied to them. So there's one more little trick we need to go over to flash backgrounds to all of our views. So I'm gonna change the browser organization.

I'm gonna say right click, browser organization, and we are gonna change that to associated level and phase filter. And so we've got MEPL one and show previous and new, that is our new work plans. So we are going to select all of the floor plans. We are not going to include the RCPs. And we're gonna right click, apply view template, by link view one new work.

Okay, yes. All of these views have been applied with the level one background. Okay. And now we're gonna do the same with MEP roof main. Floor plan. Apply view template. This is the roof. Okay. Yes. And we're gonna spot check.

Power roof, that looks right. Okay. And now, you know, I indicated that this project is a it's it's a new construction project. There's no there are no demo sheets and floor plans. So I changed the views to associate level and phase filter just so that I could quickly come in here and clean these up. I'm not gonna need these views. These are all demo plans and I don't need them. So I can just quickly delete them here. Let's see. I also don't have any existing, so I can delete those.

Demo plans and delete the existing plans. Okay. Also while we're here, we don't the parent plans are for when you have sort of campus problems that you split the building up into area a, area b, area c. We don't have any of that. We can delete that.

Do that over here as well. And RCPs, I'm just gonna leave for now for when we may or may not get RCPs from the architect. Okay. So I've I've cleaned up a bunch of views, I've set the backgrounds, I'm going to right click, browse organizations, set it back to three tier view sort, so I can do work. And now the the the rest of the the rest of the step here is to clean up any remaining sheets, any views rather.

So for example, if in this project you know that you're not gonna have gas, you delete all the gas plans. If you know you're not gonna have hydronics, you delete the piping plans, etcetera. So I'm going to leave these for now. I'm going to role play as if I'm just a model setup person, maybe I wasn't given a good brief on what plans to include and not to include. So I'm gonna leave that to the disciplines for now. I'm not gonna do any cleanup here. If you do know that information, now is a fine time to do it.
