Okay. So now we're in our two d links model and we want to import our CAD backgrounds. Let's go take a quick look at where those are. So there's a number of different ways you can do it. And here we have our incoming files folder, we have our architectural backgrounds, DWG, and here we have our DWG files that we've received from the architect.
Now probably we don't want these to live here, we want them in a different folder because this might all get moved around. This is a little bit of a question of management on your end, so I'm going to give you a recommendation. But you can do it different ways. A different way to do this would be to create a folder for XRES that you clean up and push into, But I'm going to be showing a workflow where you don't do any cleanup in CAD, you do all the cleanup of the CAD files in Revit because that's more Revit based skills. You probably already know how to clean up drawings in CAD.
So I'm going to copy these two CAD files and I'm going to go to Revit links and then I'm gonna create a new folder for DWGs. Gonna paste them in here. And if I wanted to, I might clean up the naming convention here. In fact, I'm gonna do that. I'm just gonna a floor plan. That looks fine. And that looks fine. Of course, suit whatever your standards are. But that is enough information for me. So we've got our main floor and we've got our roof plan.
So I'm going to go into my two d links model Revit. I'm going to go to my Newwork level one plan. That's the view I'm in. I'm going to say insert link CAD, DWGs, and here's my main floor. We have a few options here.
I typically like to set the colors to black and white, and leave the rest of the settings as they are on default. If you've done some cleanup in CAD already, you might want to choose to only bring in the visible layers or to specify. But for this tutorial, for the learnings, we're going to bring in all the layers. Okay. And that has brought in our CAD background for level one.
Let's do the same for new work, a roof main. Insert, the CAD, roof plan, colors black and white, open, and there we go.
