Set Levels
BIM Suite · Model Setup with CAD Backgrounds · 3m
This lesson teaches you how to effectively set levels within your MEP model using Revit. You'll learn to delete unnecessary levels, align them with architectural counterparts, and manipulate views for a cleaner project browser.
Specific skills covered include using the align tool for precision, managing view associations, and adjusting dimensions for reference planes. This practical approach streamlines your workflow and enhances model organization.

And then I'm going to adjust the levels. So this is a big horizontal section. Going to right click it and say go to view. That's also this section here by the way. And you can see here roof main and level one, these are the levels in my architectural model, my two d links model and all these other levels are in my MEP model.
So the first thing I can do is delete the model the levels I know I don't need. Gonna delete those. And as per how this works, you know, we have a lot of different views all set up in in the project browser. They're associated with levels. So as we delete levels that we don't need, that's going to delete that's going to delete views that we don't need.
That's what that warning is about. So it's cleaning up our project browser for us. We'll move that in a second. Use the rest of them with all those. And here is our MEP roof main level and here's architectural one.
So I'm gonna use the align tool, which is by default AL. I've mapped it to AA and I'm going to select the target, a roof main, and then the source which is MEP roof main, and that's going to align them. And I wanna move the heads over, so they should be aligned and locked, that's what this blue inference line is. And then I want to move these over, so if I mouse over, there is this open circle, that's gonna be a grip that I can use to move it over. And this is an operation that some people have trouble with, so I'm just gonna spend a moment explaining how we can manipulate this.
So what you wanna do, because sometimes you have to zoom in in order to select this, whereas if you're zoomed out, it wants to select other things and it can be difficult to see what you're doing. Zoom in a little bit so you can select it, and I'm gonna left click and hold, and you can see I can now move both of these. And then with my middle finger, I'm going to scroll out, then I'm going to do whatever your mouse's middle click is so that you can pan and I'm gonna pan over. And I'm going to scroll back in to get it where I want to. It's a little bit of muscle memory to get this move.
Alright, so my levels are where I want them to be. And then if you want to use this reference plane for ceiling level, you could put that in and we just need to get that dimension set to eight foot, 8.5 foot. There we go. Okay. So my levels are sorted now.
