Creating a Project on ACC
BIM Suite · Creating a New Project on ACC · 4m
This lesson teaches you how to create a new project on Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), ensuring your project is set up correctly from the start. You'll learn how to name your project, select the appropriate Revit version, and activate essential product access features.
Key topics include setting up project folders, organizing linked models, and the importance of project version specificity. You'll also understand the recommended sequence for inviting team members after establishing your models.

Okay. So you've created your hub, and you are now in the hub admin space. And you wanna create your first project, so that's what we're going to do. Let's come over here to the project tab. And now you can see I've already got a number of projects in MyHub. You won't see anything yet because you'll have just created it, but you will see create projects. So go ahead and click create project. And for this one, we're going to call this project project 42. Name it however you like. You know, you might have your own convention.
You might have client initials, then the project name, whatever. I also like to put the, Revit version in the, project name because each project on ACC is version specific. So let me be really clear about that. What I mean by that is if you create a project for a Revit 2023 project, let's say, you can't upgrade it within that same project. If the project were to upgrade from 23 to, let's say, 2025, you would have to create a new project and load you know, change it over, which we can talk about later.
The point is is the project itself on ACC will be Revit version specific. So I'm going to say I'm gonna say Rev X because that's the client here. That's me. I'm creating this sort of, example project. Project 42, that's same in my project, and 23 for the Revit version. Now you if you have a project number, you can insert that here. And then where there where there's the red asterisk, you have to pick something. So I'm just picking something random because I don't really care. All this information is optional. I never fill it out myself.
So I then just hit create project. And so this is me and selecting a role is optional, but you do want to turn on product access for some reason. Autodesk makes you do this every time. You need to turn on docs and you need design collaboration and you need model coordination. Insight will be on by default. And anything in unpurchased products, you don't need to worry about that. You don't have access to it and you don't need these for the basics of what we're talking about here. Okay. So that's activated for me. Now since I don't have any model set up yet, I I could invite other team members to the project.
But since I don't have the model set up, it's my personal preference to first set the models up, get the project, all the Revit models, everything ready to go, and then invite, team members to the project. So that is the order in which I'm going to do things. Let's review. What I've got is I've got the project set up, Rev X project 422023, and I've got myself assigned to it. I'm in the project admin tab here. So I'm gonna go over to the I'm gonna go to the docs. Again, this is under this project. I'm gonna go to the docs tab or button or whatever. And so I've got my project files. This is the folder structure on the cloud on ACC.
And I like to keep things really simple. All I'm gonna have up here is my NEP model and the linked models. So I'm gonna create a subfolder for the linked model, add subfolder. I'm just gonna call it links. Gonna hit okay. So I've got project folders and I've got links. And there's nothing in here yet. So, that is all I'm going to do on, on the ACC management portal now. Now I'm going to go set up my models and get them pushed up into the cloud. And then I'm gonna come back and assign team members and permissions as the last step.
