Copy Entire Sheets Into Your Project

Okay. In this video, I'm going to show how to quickly move entire sheets that are full of assets that you want from your mechanical warehouse into your project. So if we look at our project, if we look at the mechanical warehouse rather, you can see that we have a cover sheet, and it's got some general notes and design conditions, a sheet list, mechanical symbols already populated on it. We'd like this. It's got a schedules sheet, with a sort of stand standard equipment schedules laid out nicely the way I like on all of my projects.

So we want this. And it's got a detail sheet with all of my you know, a sheet full of my standard default. I want these on every project details. I would like to be able to just pull these over and not have to, organize, arrange, pick one by one, and and then put on the sheets. Right? Well, fortunately, Revit does have a button for that. So let's go back over to our project. And I've cleaned out any any, you know, from the template details, cover sheets, things like that to make this nice and clean. So I'm gonna go to the insert tab, insert from file, insert views from file. Then I'm going to browse to my warehouse and say open.

Gives me a long list, most of which I'm not interested in, so I want to filter for show sheets only. And you'll notice something interesting. It's only showing me the schedules and the details sheets as well as the sync screen, which I'm not interested in. Now and the reason it's not showing me the cover sheet and the reason it's not showing me the sheet that had the view with all the equipment on it is because Revit cannot insert, sheets that have views on them. So floor plans, three d views, sections, anything like that.

It won't even show that in that list because it can't do it. And it also can't transfer sheets that have any legends on them. I don't understand why Revit can't transfer legends, but it can't. So it's not showing me that cover sheet. I'll show how to address that in just a second. But it will show me, it will transfer schedules, and it will transfer details. So I'm going to check those and, hey, say okay. And here we go. Here's our detail sheet. It shows up here on my sheet list.

And if I scroll up, it has placed these details, in my, project browser, I could go in and, modify these details if I wanted to. So that's great. And it also created the schedules sheet. So all the schedules that I wanted are here. Now, of course, they're they're rather skinny. They're not populated. That's because, again, none of these families are actually in the model space yet. I haven't started modeling and placing this equipment. As I do, these schedules will read them and start to populate with that equipment. Okay.

So that was the schedules, and that was the details. Oh, and, of course, the schedules, were placed here. Okay. So those are my schedules. Those are my detail sheets.

How about this cover sheet? So what I'm gonna do is I'm going to create a new destination sheet in my project, and I'm going to call it m one cover sheet. Mechanical, of course, call it whatever is per your standard. So here's my cover sheet. Then if I come back over to my, the cover sheet that's in the mechanical warehouse, What I can do is I can select all of the things that are on it and say control c, come over to the cover sheet in my project, say control v, and then line it up.

Let's get all those selected again and get it nudged over. And then here's the legends. These are the legends that it wouldn't transfer from the insert from file button. But here they are, and I can, you know, edit them and everything. Of course, you would you would have these all already populated with information in the mechanical warehouse. So that's that. It's not much more of a pain than the insert from file. It's pretty quick, but that is how you have to do that for sheets that involve legends. Alright. And that's that.
