Okay. So now that we've got our gas piping modeled, we want to tag it and we want to get it on our sheets. So I'm gonna close these and I'm gonna come over to my sheet views. So by default, our mechanical floor plan o one view doesn't show piping. Again, there should there there is some piping right here, but it's not visible.
Settings for this view are set to basically be sheet metal views. Now you may want to show both sheet metal and piping on the same sheet. That's fine. That's easy. All you have to do is come to the view template, click in sheet, go to VG overrides model, and find the piping. Just start typing p I. It'll take you down to the pipe fittings. You can see that they're unchecked, so you can check them and okay. And there we go. The piping is now showing up.
But for this example, let's say that's not what we want, so I'm gonna control z that. I'll keep this as a sheet metal view, and we have views both for piping, and this is gonna be a hydronic piping, I believe no. It's it's all piping, actually. We also have a floor plan for gas only. If you want a gas only sheet, this will show mechanical gas piping and not not hydraulics. But on the mechanical piping, this would show both hydraulics and gas. So up to you how you wanna show it. We also have piping plans over here. Piping plans, so that is showing that. So these are the views we're gonna show the piping plans.
Okay. So I'm gonna go mechanical piping one, I'm gonna say t g for tag, and I don't like using attached end, I like using free end. And I'm going to click here, there, and there. Now you might be asking why does this say one inch VTR, what is that? Well, we have a number of pipe tags for plumbing, so just don't worry about those.
If you see something strange, come up to M pipe tag, size and system is probably what you want. So just straighten that out a little bit, then you can get that to look how you want. I'm now using shift arrow keys, so you can get that to look how you want there. So I'm gonna type t g again and I'm gonna mouse gonna click this pipe tag and I'm say c s for create similar, and it's gonna copy that pipe tag type, And then I'm gonna mouse over that pipe, click, and I'm gonna click there, and I'm gonna click this type, and I'm gonna say up. And so this is just a pipe tag that suffixes the size and system with up.
So there you go. And that gets gas up onto the roof. So we're gonna close this view. And here we are on the piping roof plan, and t g for tag. And I'm gonna click that one. Again, this one I can say down. And then t g again. Now for this one, I might not wanna use the leader. I might want to have it in the center, so I'm gonna uncheck leader. And I want that tag actually to be vertically aligned, so I'm gonna hit the space bar.
Space bar just toggles between orientation. I'm gonna click there and just put another one there. And this is just another sort of preference if you want it to be opaque or transparent. By default, it is set to transparent so it doesn't block out the piping behind it. So one thing you could do is move it.
Sometimes just like it like that. And and if I hit TL for thin line, like, that's how it's gonna display. If you want it to be opaque, you can simply go into edit family and select the units, say edit type and set the background to opaque. Say okay. Load in a project and close, you don't need to save changes, and overwrite the existing version, and yes, make it editable.
And there, it gives it a background so it's opaque and the the lines don't cut through it. That's really just a preference thing. If you want it one way or the other, easy to go in and change it from one to the other. Okay. And probably wanna tag our equipment too, so RTU. There we go, and there we go. That is our sheet views for piping. Pretty simple when you just have one little branch of pipe. And of course in the sheets, we have first floor plan piping. Here we go.
And roof plan piping on the sheet. Okay. So I think that just about covers it for the basics of mechanical piping modeling.
