K. In this video, we're gonna start pulling in equipment that we need to start actually modeling this design in three d. So in the previous video, we just drew in with detail lines, like for an SD set or for a markup. But now we are ready to start actually doing the real deal and pulling in equipment and drawing ducts and everything else. So we will get started by opening up the warehouse.
So I'm going to go open, and I'm going to find the warehouse, which I have here in our project assets. Yours will be somewhere like this. Make sure that you open the right version. So I'm in Revit 2023. Gonna go into my Revit 2023 warehouse, rather, and open that.
And I can overwrite existing copy. Exactly where your warehouse is, whether it's on ACC, whether it's on a server, will depend on the specifics of your firm. This is if it's on a local server. You would open up a new local model or a new local copy of the central model. K.
So if we go to the sheets and you find the mechanical warehouse sheet, this is the sheet that has everything on it. It has all of these schedules as well as a view containing all of the equipment. Schedules on the left and a view with all the equipment here on the right. So we're looking for, we're gonna grab AHUs yet. So, this is a view that I'm looking at.
I'm gonna double click it to activate it, and then I can go find my horizontal AHUs. The way I have this set up here is, by tonnage. And I actually for this project, I want the three ton and the two ton unit. So I selected left click that, and I control click that one to multiselect. I hit control c to copy, And I'm gonna come over to my working view in this project, and I'm gonna hit control v to paste.
Just gonna click once to set them there and click again to undo that dash box thing. And let's see. This is the two ton, and this is the three ton. I want the three ton over here, and I want the two ton over here. Gonna deal with these further in a second.
Come back over here. So I also want some heat pump units, so I'm gonna grab a three ton outdoor one to one unit and then the two ton outdoor unit. Again, control c to copy those, and I'm gonna paste here. This is the three ton unit. Move it over there. Two ton unit. I'm gonna move over here. And notice if I drag it off the edge of my crop region nope. That wasn't a crop region. If I did drag it off the edge of my crop region, it would start to go away.
So if you paste equipment in and you can't find it, it might be because you've pasted it off of the edge of the crop region. So you might have to move that around to find what you're looking for. Alright. So I've got these. I'm gonna sort them out before I do anything else. I'm gonna get them roughly in place. So if I go to my section, I can see that both of these are on the ground. The heat pumping on the ground is alright, but the AHU, I want up in my ceiling space. So I'm gonna move it up there, and I was just using the up arrow to do that. And if if I if you tap the up arrow once, it moves at a certain amount.
If you hold shift and hit the up arrow, it moves it by more. So shift up, just up. You get the idea. Alright. So I've moved it there. That's at nine feet, I notice. So for the other unit on this side, I could just go in and say, go to nine feet, and that's at an elevation that I like. K. Now I'm gonna go back here, and I want these facing a different way. So I use space bar to rotate it by 90 degrees. And I want the supply coming this way, and I want the return coming out that way. So that's oriented correctly. Just gonna refer to my markup here. Yeah. I have it over this wall.
I'm not sure I want it over that wall. That might not be a great spot for it. I'm gonna put it over the meeting space. Might fiddle fiddle with that more later, but I'll put that there. And my heat pump unit, I'm gonna rotate it there and just get it up against the wall like that. And this one, space bar to rotate, and I might put it over the storage room. And this one, gonna rotate until it's pointing in the direction I want. Alright. And now if I hit TG, I'm gonna tag these units. But I want to point something out here, and that is that I'm on a working view.
I'm not on the sheet view. So if I go over to my sheet view, and that's this one, mechanical floor plan o one, you can now see equipment that I've dropped in, but we're not seeing the tag. This is this is the text from my SD markup that I that I put in in the previous video. Right? So the the tags here, they're just for my own reference in this working view to keep track of, you know, my equipment and my units. The this is just dumb text, which I'll be deleting shortly. In fact, since I've dropped these in, I might as well delete that. Delete that. Delete that. I'll get rid of that.
HE2. K. So now back over to new work. And this tag is reading a property of this equipment. So if I scroll down here, you can see that it's reading as common Quip ID, HUHDash4. And let's say that I don't actually want it to say that. I want it to say HUDash1. You can see that the tag value updated, and I'm gonna do the same here. I can also change it just in the tag. So I'm gonna call this heat pump dash one, and this is gonna be HU2.
And this is gonna be 2. And you might say, like, why did I edit these tags here and not on the sheet view once you just have to redo that work? Well, I won't have to reenter them in. When I'm ready to come in here and tag them on my sheet view, I'll enter a tag mode, TG, and I'm gonna uncheck leader. And I'm just gonna click there, and you can see that it says, h p one. Heat pump one. And this one says h u one. So the information is already done. I'm just electing to add the tags in here at this point. So add that there.
This one, I'll add here for now. Okay. So I've got I've got that equipment in. I've got a little bit more equipment. I've got some ceiling exhaust fans. Gonna bring those in. So back over to the mechanical warehouse. We've got exhaust fans and equipment here, and you can see we have some options for ceiling mounted exhaust fans. And so let's say that I know that I want let's see. This is An SBA200.
This is An SBA110. Say that's the one that I want. I'm gonna copy that, go back over here, and paste one in the men's room and one in the women's room. Alright. And the elevation from level is eight feet.
I'm gonna check-in my section how that compares to where the ceiling is, and it looks to be dead on. K. So I'm I can also tag this real quick. I'm gonna call this one CF1 and this one CF2. Alright. What else do I need? Delete. Delete. Delete. And I can tag that.
Alright. Let's get an exhaust fan in here. This exhaust fan is gonna go on the roof. So this is our first bit of roof equipment. So come over here to the mechanic warehouse, and I'm gonna get in one of these roof matter uplast exhaust fans. And let's see. We've got CUE9599100. Let's do a one twenty. So control c, copy that. And come back over to my project, but I don't wanna put it in on my floor plan.
I wanna put it on the roof. So I'm gonna go up to my working roof plan and control v, cop paste that. So here it is. And then I'm gonna come back over to my floor plan, Mac New York 01, and I can see here is my roof equipment. I've got a filter set up to show roof equipment half tone and dash, which is why it's showing up like that. And I think I want it right here is where we decided to put it. So that's good. And then I'm gonna go into my section again, see where it's showing up. So that's good. It's a little low.
Obviously, it showed it it came in at zero inches above MEP roof main, which is a fine place for it to start. But because of the pitch and the thickness of the roof, I want that unit to come up something more like this. And that's good, but now I need to come back into my floor plan and see if it's still showing up. Okay. Good. It is. I'm gonna go to my sheet view. Okay. And it's still there. So I'm gonna delete markup, and I'm going to tag this.
It's calling itself E F 6, but I want it to be E F 1. And let's open the tag there or something like that. Alright. I've got that. I'd like to add my louvers now. So back to the warehouse. Louvers are the very top and with the air terminals. Here we go. So here's a couple different instances. These are all the same family, but there's a couple different types, 12 by twelve, eighteen by eighteen, twenty four by 24.
And this type a is just kind of a placeholder type that you can do whatever you want with. So I'm gonna I'm gonna click this one, which is the 18 by 18, and I'm gonna copy that, and I'm gonna paste it into my project. And this one, let me reference my okay. So it's in between those two windows is where we'd put it. And the elevation from level is one foot.
That's probably not gonna work. Let's go here to my section. Move this up to here and line it to that outside wall. And for all I know, 18 by 18 is fine. I haven't sized the louver yet, so I will just leave it the way it is.
But now that I've got this louver in here, I can place the sister louver over on this side. So I'm gonna type c s for create similar and hit space bar until it's pointed the direction I like, and I'm gonna put it. It wants me to put it there. I'm gonna type AA to align. Click the outside of the wall. Click there. Now I'm gonna align it to the wall. Okay. I've got my louvers, and I can tag these. L two is fine, and this one is l two. I want it to be called l one. Alright. Okay. I think the only remaining bit of equipment we have is the rooftop units. Let's go check out what we've got in the mechanical warehouse.
So we have this one RTU to rule them all. This is kind of a this is a rooftop unit family that you can use to make just about any kind of air handling equipment, RTs, MAUs, ERVs, etcetera. It's very customizable. It's also a little outside of the scope of this video series to get into doing that. We do have a separate video series on on dealing with that, modifying it. So I encourage you to learn that. It's a great skill. It's an important skill. It's just a little bit more in-depth than we wanna get into today. So I've got some example RTUs over here that we can look at.
So these are some RTUs that I've created that are based off of a train, you know, YSJ series for a client. So these are sort of in the space here, and I made this unit from this. So I took this. I did the save as, and then I modified it, and I wound up with this. And this family matches the dimensions of the cut sheet for the train y s j o seven two a whatever.
So just to give you a sense of what you can do, with this family, these are all the same. So these are side blast, or side, return air and supplier units. But we're gonna go with this one. And so I'm just going to select it, copy it, come over to my roof plan, and put it in place. It goes right about there. And hit space bar once to orientate it like that. And it goes about there. Let's check it out in section. Obviously, it needs to go a little bit. So it'll be sitting about there.
And let's make sure that we can see it. And so we're not seeing it from below even though we want to. And the reason it has to do with the view range settings for this. So let's if we look in our section, we can see that the elevation from level is two foot three inches. So that's this dimension here.
It's sitting above the level. And if we go into our floor plan, we have the top of the view range only at two feet. So if we change this to two feet three inches, I bet it will show up. And there it is. So this top of our view range for the view below has to be high enough to cut into or intersect the geometry of that unit up there. So there it is. That's good. Let's hit okay. And we can delete the markup here from this view that we don't need. So I'm just gonna box select that, and then I'm going to shift select.
No. Actually, it didn't select this, so that's good. I can just delete that. Alright. Great. And maybe I'll just nudge. Looks like I want this to be about it won't be over that grid line, so I'll drop in right there. Something like that. Future me can deal with the duck routing on that, but that's close enough for now. And I can tag it from down below so that we usually, from down below, we know which rooftop equipment is overhead.
I'm gonna call that RTU dash one. Alright. Good. And I could also go to the roof plan here, tag this unit, tag my exhaust fan. Alright. Great. Okay. So that is an introduction to bringing in equipment from the warehouse into your project, arranging it, tagging it, setting the tags, and adjusting some little visibility issues. So we're off to a good start. And let's see.
A little a little more cleanup over here. That is our note text. That is that. We've already got our louver, and Lover needs to go a bit more. Share louver's okay down here. Tag that louver. That one's tagged, but we can eliminate that. Okay. Yeah. Okay. So that's good for showing how to bring in the equipment. In the next video, we will look at air terminals and ductwork.
