Adding Switches and Assigning Switch IDs

After you place your light fixtures, you'll want to add a switch and then designate a zone for of control. So to place a light switch, I'm gonna go up here to systems, then over here in electrical, you can click this drop down and select lighting. Lighting devices are fixture are families that you can use to control the light fixture. So over here, you also have the ceiling occupant occupancy sensor and photocell, but only the switch ID or only the light switch will allow you to assign a switch ID. So I'm gonna click that and then place this along a wall.

So now when I have this on the wall, you can go over here and under switch ID, which is right here, you can type in a letter. So I typically use a lowercase letter. So I say switch ID a. And then now if you pick up the light fixtures, you can see that you can switch it. So I'm gonna click the switch button and I'm going to select the switch that's gonna be controlling it.

So now when I click the switch, you can see the letter a pops up under this tag. Let's go ahead and edit the switch system and add the rest of light switch. And then I'm gonna hit finish editing. You can see the letter a pops up under all of these switch IDs. We can also tag the switch to show the switch ID in here as well.

So I'm gonna hit tag or well, rather, go up here to annotate, and you can click tag by category or press the keyboard shortcut. You can see here it says TG. So by typing TG, I can go ahead and tag the switch. Right now, it's not the right orientation, so I can hit the space key and it flips it to the correct orientation. Also, I think it's using the one with the box. I don't really want the one with the box. So under tags, I'm gonna switch this. So if I click down here and press l, it goes to lightning devices. Yeah. I don't wanna use the one with the box.

I just wanna use the standard one. Hit okay. Okay. So now it's the a without the box. So after you click and place it, you can click and drag it to the side and there you go. So now this is switch a and it controls all of these light fixtures. If you were to go if you wanna change the letter designation, click the s and then over here under switch ID, if I were to press b and hit enter, you'll see that all of the switch IDs update on my fixture. This is really good if you had two separate switches and two different zones in a room. Keeps everything organized, and you don't have to worry about mismatches if you end up changing one of the switch IDs.
