High Bay Fixture Placement, Elevation Control, and Array Layout

Alright. So I'm gonna show you how to work in a big open space with a fixture that mounts to the bottom bottom of steel. Alright. So we're gonna start by going here to light fixtures and I wanna use the suspended fixture. And in this case, one of the high bays that I wanna specify is gonna look like a two by two fixture. So right now, if I were to place this fixture, it's gonna end up on the ground. That's not exactly how I want it. Here, I will place one here on the ground and then I will go over here and I will type in, let's say 15 feet. And then the next one, I'm gonna place, you know, at the correct elevation. But you'll notice that it actually pops up with a warning, none of the created elements are visible in the floor plan.

And that's because when I put it at 15 feet, it actually sits outside of the view range of this floor plan. So what I'm gonna do is over here under view template, you can actually go over here to the view range and we're going to adjust this. So instead of cutting at 10 feet, I wanna cut at least at 15 feet and look down. So if I hit okay, okay, and all of sudden, you'll see that now this fixture is is visible. So what we'll also do, we'll open up a three d view of this by selecting the fixture and then going over here to selection box.

When you click on that, you can see that one of the fixtures on the ground and the other one is 15 feet up in the air. Now you can also expand this view. So I'm gonna click on this little blue box over here, that's called the section box. And then there is little drag arrows that you can click and drag out. So I wanna go like this and like this. There you go. There's the meeting room, there's the garage door. Let's let's go all the way to the other side. And then let's drag this up so that we just see the we just missed the ceiling, or in this case the roof. Alright.

So the roof is here, I'm gonna click on the front. There we go. So if we can see right here, the roof is right here at this level and let's drag it so that we're just under it. Okay. That way I can kinda see down through it and I will be able to adjust this light fixture appropriately. Okay. Alright. So now you can also start working right here in this three d view. Alright. So what I wanted to show is the stem going up to the bottom of the roof and the light fixture, that's actually perfect.

I want it higher than the top of this roll up door and slightly higher than the top of this meeting room. Okay? So right now, I just need to increase the stem length so that it looks right. And right here, there's a stem length that we can adjust. You can tap in like four feet, it's a little short, let's do six feet. Perfect. Alright. Let's extend this up just a little bit. That looks good. Yep. It basically anchors itself to the bottom of the steel and it's gonna attach the light fixture right about here. Let's make it like maybe five foot six. Perfect. Alright. So now that I got the height worked out, I don't really want this one on the ground, so I'm gonna hit delete.

And you'll see that when I delete from here, it also deletes it from the floor plan. So you can actually work in either case. But when I'm laying it down on the in the grid pattern, the floor plan is actually the best place to be. So now I'm going to maybe start about here, alright? And then you could do this one of two ways.

You can hit create similar, which then allows you to place another fixture kind of in line with, you know, in this direction or maybe you can line it up this way, but this is manual. So what I wanna do is actually I wanna use the array tool to be able to propagate all the fixtures from one side to another. Okay? So I'm gonna click on the fixture and then go up here to array. And then right now I'm going to specify to the last fixture, and I wanna go ahead and say maybe four fixtures will do.

Okay? So I'm going to go from here and I wanna specify the last fixture to be about there. Okay. So if you think that looks good, you can leave it at that. But if you think maybe another fixture would help, we can actually just change this to number five, and you see that it'll spread five fixtures evenly between these two points. So you know what, maybe I think four looks good. For a high bay fixture, we don't need that many. I mean, if you really wanted to, three would also work fine. So yeah, let's go with three. I feel like three looks looks like it'll be even enough.

Okay. So now if I click out of this, you'll see that we have three fixtures and you can see in this three d view that they're all aligned perfectly. So I arrayed it in one direction, now let's array it in this direction. Okay. So just to get a general distance, I wanna measure from one fixture to another and it's 18 feet. Okay. So now what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna select these three fixtures and I'm going to array them this way. But this time, I'm actually gonna do this, move to the second position. And let's see. I'm going to press from one corner and then I'm gonna type in 18.

There we go. So now it this is equal distance from that, and this is equal distance from this. So it looks like I probably will need maybe three rows. Okay. Yeah. Let's do three. I don't think four will fit here. Yeah. Probably not. Not at 18 feet. Okay. So let's go let's go three and then I'm going to grab this and then I'll center this inside of the the workshop area. Okay. And there you go. Now you have your light fixtures all this all at the correct height and they're all equidistance.

So we're gonna go ahead and check on the three d view. So you see how it only shows part of it? You can click this and drag it out, or what you can also do is select all the fixtures, go back to here, and then click this section box again, and you can see that it kind of resizes to fit your new selection. So sometimes it's easier to just expand the box, and other times it's quicker to just grab the fixture or just grab the all the fixtures you wanna see and hit that selection box. Alright.

So with all that modeled, we can actually see that I am just missing all of the ductwork up here, which is perfect. Alright. All the fixtures are in and there we go. This is how you place a fixture in a high base space, how you adjust the height of it, how you can work in three d view, and how to use the array tool to be able to lay out your lights quickly.
