Placing Fixtures and Matching Ceiling Height

Alright. Placing light fixtures in Revit is simply done by going to systems tab and then under electrical, click on light fixtures. Here you have an option to select a variety of different types of fixtures. So for the break room, we're probably gonna use a lay in panel. But to figure out what type of ceiling grid this is, you want to refer to the RCP, also known as the reflected ceiling plan.
The reflected ceiling plan gives you the grid. And with the grid, you can also select it by hovering your mouse over it and pressing tab until the grid is selected. Then you can left click on it to pick the ceiling. This will tell you if your ceiling height is at eight feet, 10 feet or nine foot. So knowing this number helps in placing the fixtures so that it matches the ceiling height.
If you're having trouble picking the fixture if you're having trouble picking the ceiling, you'll want to make sure that you have the ability to select links, select underlay, and pin elements disabled. So if you have all of these enabled for some for instance, you won't be able to pick the ceiling. So with these disabled, you can hover over the ceiling, press tab until the ceiling is selected, then left click to find the ceiling height. Alternatively, you can cut a section and figure out the ceiling height that way as well. Alright.
So now that I know the ceiling is an eight foot ceiling, I'm gonna go ahead and disable my selection of pinned elements, and then I can either place the light fixture in the RCP or on the ceiling or or on the floor plan. What I'm gonna do in the RCP so that I can line it up with the grid correctly. So I'm gonna go back up here, click on light fixture and then click on the a two four fixture. This is the fixture that it's a two by four that I can go ahead and fill the entire grid in. So you can see how it comes in at a right angle to what I want.
So I can press the space key and then go ahead and snaps right into the grid. So I'm gonna go ahead and click, let's say, maybe this one, this grid, and I'm not sure if that'll work up here. Let's try that. Alright. So I'm gonna select all these fixtures. I wanna make sure that they came in at eight feet. If they were not, I can simply select it and then type in an alternate number. So let's for example, you know what, I'm gonna type in seven feet just to just to prove a point. Alright. Selecting this, I'm also going to go ahead and click the selection box, and this allows me take a peek, make sure how it's lined up.
So let's say I didn't have it and come in at the correct height, you can clearly see that it's below the ceiling. So with the fixture selected, I can go ahead and select the elevation, change it to eight feet, hit enter, and now you can see that it is correctly inside of the ceiling. So there you go. If we go back to the floor plan, you can see now the fixtures have shown up and now we can start tagging and circuiting them.
