Aligning and Evenly Spacing Fixtures with Dimensions

When you have a bunch of fixtures that are free form in terms of like layout, you know, example, like not in a grid, you can actually use the align tool to keep them all, well, aligned. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna place a few light fixtures, so a few of these j one fours, and I'm just gonna, you know, haphazardly place a couple in here, and obviously this doesn't look good. Right? So what you can actually do is use the align tool and align, let's say, the center of that fixture to the center of this fixture, and then click on the lock. So what that does is it locks it together so that at least in one direction, it stays aligned.

K? So what I'm gonna do is actually I'm gonna align it all up to the top fixture. So I'm gonna do a l for align. Click on the edge of one fixture and the other. Hit lock. Edge of this to the edge of that. Hit lock. And then now if I align the top one, all of this will snap into place. It's perfect. So now in order to equal equally distribute it in within this room, we're going to use the dimension tool.

So the dimension tool so dimension tool is under annotate, and I'm gonna use the align dimension. I'm gonna pick one of these walls so you can see how it turns a little bit blue. And then I'm gonna click the opposite wall, and then I will find the center point of the fixture right there. Okay. And then the last click indicates where you wanna put this dimension. I'm just gonna place it here. After you place it, you'll see this this little tiny e q button up here. If you press that, it makes them equal distance. So now it's centered in the room and I snapped all the fixtures from top to bottom. Perfect.

So now what I'm gonna do is actually I'm gonna snap these within their own room. Let's do that. I'm gonna hit e q. Perfect. From here to here to here to here. And then same thing, equal. And that's perfect. There we go. And I might actually leave the dimensions on here because this is my working view. The working view is not what's gonna be printed, so it doesn't matter that these are here and actually it might help me with the spacing.

What you wanna do for the sheet view is go here to your lighting plan and then go in here. This is the plan that you will be annotating everything on. So if I wanted to tag all the light fixtures, for example, I'm gonna tag them all in here. I go here to light fixture, tag, okay, And then I'm going to select all of them, visible in view, and then I'm gonna use the arrow key just to kind of adjust it almost mostly to where I want them. So now I can go here.

Let's just bring that up, and then same thing over here. I'm gonna select all of them, filter, uncheck the room tag, then now I'm gonna tab it with my keyboard. It's been here. So same thing. You do that with the rest of the fixtures here. So the tags wanna stay here and then you can leave the dimensions here.
