Creating and Managing Type-Based Loads Specialty Equipment

Alright. So let's say you wanna put a special connector over here that's specifically meant for a particular piece of equipment that's very consistent throughout your project. Let's say a break room will always want maybe a dishwasher, and we want a dishwasher to have a set voltage, set load, and that's consistent throughout the project. So over here under systems, under devices, we have a specialty case where you can set certain things like, for example, a clock or a dishwasher. So I'm gonna click on dishwasher, and you'll see that a symbol pops up where I can again rotate it.

And let's say I wanna put it right here in this dishwasher. And let's say that I want to maybe we'll have two dishwashers side by side. I'm gonna create similar and put another one next to it here. And then you're working through your project and you'll you'll see you see how here it says a 120 volts 500 VA. And let's say like partway through the project, you get a revised submittal and this dishwasher changes.

And let's say there's maybe, you know, 20 of these dishwashers throughout your project. Well, because we made this a special type type load parameter, you can go here to edit type and then under the s elect apparent load, which you'll notice is inside the type parameter window instead of in the instance parameter, you'll see that when you change here, let's say change it to seven fifty and I hit okay, this changes to seven fifty but so does every other instance of this dishwasher. It all changes to 750 VA and it makes it very easy for me to not miss anything. If they're all circuited to a panel board, it's all gonna show the correct load and in design, this is very good for keeping things consistent across the board. So now when I circuit these things, very simple.

I hit power and it's done because the voltage and the load has already been defined. There we go. Then I can also do a home run out if I wanted to, And this goes to circuit one, then it goes to circuit two. And maybe I'll maybe I'll run this over here. In you go.

And this is what you call a type based load. And you can fill these in. You can duplicate additional ones if you wanted to. So if I hit edit type, let's say I have another one that's something else, maybe like a like a fridge is a consistent thing. So I can duplicate that, and I'll type in fridge. Hit okay. And then over here in the fridge, maybe the fridge is only 500 VA. And instead of d w, let's see. Dishwasher, I'll say I'll change this to fridge. And here, annotation, f r.

Or actually, that's probably refrigerator RF. Hit okay. And whoops. Okay. So I changed this one back. So let's say this is the fridge and I wanna create a similar one next to it. Change this one back to a dishwasher. And there we go. Okay. So that's how you do load, tight base loads in electrical Revit.
