Creating Sheets and Placing Views on Sheets

Alright. So now that you have all your floor plans done, it's time to get them onto sheets. So, basically, the idea is to take your floor plan and drag it onto the sheet, but there's a couple things that you can do so that all your views show up in the exact same spot, your title is lined up correctly, and just overall presentation will look good. Alright. So to start, we'll make sure the sheets are created, And if you don't have them created, like for here, I want to have a lighting plan, a power plan, and a system plan, I don't have a system plan made.

So in order to do that, I'm going to just right click on an existing plan, and I'm going to duplicate sheet as an empty sheet. And the reason I want to do that is so that it at least stays within the confines of this category. If I were to just go up here and do new sheet, you can see that if I just click one of the title blocks, it pops into just some uncategorized sheet that just hangs out in the middle of nowhere. So instead of doing that and then having to go through and sort it all, it's easier if I just duplicate a sheet down here. Now it's at least somewhat in the right area, and then I can rename it.

Let's say instead of 12, I wanna have a a different series, and this one will just say systems. Okay. So now that I have the sheet made, we can go ahead and start with putting in at least the grids. So in order to put the guide grid in, you can just go over here and just hit the drop down arrow, and then maybe hit, like, bottom left, and then you have a grid that appear. This is kind of the base point for where all your views are coming in.

You can technically move these around if you wanted to, and it'll move around on all your sheets. So I'm gonna hit undo because I wanna leave that here. So you can do it each sheet at a time, or you can go over here, select the top sheet, hold down shift, and select the bottom sheet. And then now you can do this all at once, and I wanna turn on bottom left. Now if I go to each sheet, you can see that the guide grid has been turned on for each sheet.

Alright. So now that it's in here, I'm actually gonna place go ahead and place the lighting plan, and I wanna make sure I go to electrical sheet view and then grab the plan or the floor plan that I want on the sheet. I don't really wanna grab the working view because the working view sometimes can get a little messy. We have different colors, dimensions, and other stuff that I don't wanna print. So I actually wanna just print the nice looking plans.

So this one here looks pretty good, and I think I'm gonna put that on a sheet. Alright. So what we do is simply we just grab this view, bring it over here to our sheet, and click. So now the view is on the sheet, but you can see, like, I just kinda placed it wherever I want it. I want to actually put maybe this corner right here at the intersection.

So you can do that by hitting the move command, go over here to the corner of your view, clicking that, and snapping it to the center. Now we have the view set up in the consistent location, but I wanna make sure that this title also is in the exact same location as well. So to do that, I'm actually gonna go here here to the legends, grab this dummy legend, and I'm gonna place actually, here. I'm gonna place it down here because I wanna move this, and I wanna grab this corner right here as close as I can. Click here.

Oh, hold on. Select the view legend, move command, click this point, and drag it right there. Okay. So that way, all of my views are gonna show up here. And essentially, what you take is you can grab this this title now and snap it to there. And there we go. So we wanna do this on every view. So what I'm gonna do is I'm actually going to click on this legend, and we're actually go actually, hold on. Click on this legend. It copy to clipboard, and then I'm going to paste to the selected views.

And in doing so, I can go over here to power and systems or as many sheets as I want and paste it onto that sheet. So now if I go over here to the floor plan for systems and floor plan for power, you can see that it's already here, ready to snap the title to it. Alright. So now I'm gonna go back to systems. Let's scroll up here. Let's grab the systems plan. Here it is. Drag it over. Here, I'll drop that in here, and then I'm gonna use the move command, which I'm actually just pressing the v key. So it's v actually, v space.

And come on. V space. Oh, okay. I'm trying to there we go. Grab that. Snap it there. Take this. Snap it there. K. And then over here, what is this? The power plan. Yeah. So the power plan. Grab the power view. Yep.

Where'd it go? Oh, wow. That one is way far up here. Okay. So that the problem is is this that section is way out here. So I'm actually going to start over, grab this power plan. There we go. That's a lot more reasonable. Okay. And then same thing.

Going to move this section. Select, move, and I'm gonna grab this edge of the view, snap it to there, and then take this title, snap to there. And there we go. So if I were to go through and flip oh, here. Let me zoom extend to each one. You can see oh, there we go. Okay. So these are my three views. I can go from lighting, to power to systems. Yeah.

Let me do that so that they're identical. There we go. So lighting, power, and systems. You see how the view doesn't move anywhere, the title doesn't move anywhere, and it's very consistent. Actually, the only thing that probably could use some tweaking is the length of this. So I'm a let's see. I'm gonna pick this as my length. You know what? I should probably pick on maybe the edge of the grid line, And there we go. Okay.

Alright. So now that I have them all positioned correctly, I'm actually going to hit and remove this dummy legend. So clever way that someone taught me to remove this was to actually go over here and take the dummy legend. I'm gonna duplicate it with detailing, and then this is now the the fresh one. Right? So I'm actually gonna go over here and delete this legend. And what that does is it comes into all the views and deletes it all at once. So it's pretty interesting how that works out. And now if you go over here and rename this back to the original, no one would know the wiser. And there you have it.

You have views on a sheet with matching titles and the exact same location. And there you go. That's how you make some really good drawings with consistent views, and you can actually do this again for legends and notes too so that everything comes in at the exact same spot.
