Placing Fire Alarm Devices

Alright. Let's start placing some devices. So, we're gonna go up here to systems and click on fire alarm. And, alright. There's some detectors that we can place.

So detectors have this thing called the detection zone, And if you click if you enable the checkbox and also go to a working view so the working view is the ones with the lowercase, and this is a space where we have, like, other stuff turned on. So, like, you know, if we're with ductwork, like, cable tray and ductwork, we're trying to coordinate with that. So this is the view we would have it turned on. And same thing for detection zones. So I would have this, you know, a smoke detector here, here, maybe up one, two, maybe, like, three and four.

Okay. It's pretty decent coverage. I need one in utility room, one by the IT room. Fire alarm control panel needs one, and then maybe we'll put one in the yeah. You know what? Just one in every room. There we go. Okay. So you see how we have all these box or these circles. System plan actually doesn't have them turned on just so that if you ever need to print it, you're not gonna see all those Venn diagrams showing everywhere. But even even then, so this is hard to look at. So once I have it all placed, I'm actually gonna right click, select all, and I'm actually gonna turn them off. Alright. Cool. So there's your smoke detectors.

Let's go ahead and place some fire alarm horn strobes. So horn strobes come in two flavors. There's the wall mounted one here, and there's also the ceiling ones up here. Both of these I like I'm just gonna go with the with the wall mounted one. Both of these have the coverage area as well. So you can see this is a 15 candela, and I can snap it to the wall. Once I put it on here, I can click on it again and maybe change this to, like, a 30 candela if I want to. So that looks like it works. I'm going to align it to the wall. So if you click the wall and the edge of that, you can see that it moved the fire alarm device so that it's in the right spot.

And then, yeah, I'm just going to hit hit copy. I'm gonna copy this to this wall. You know what? I'm just gonna align it. There we go. Okay. So if you want to let's say I I wanted, like, to take this and rotate it. If you click on it and just hit the space bar, you can see that it spins around in three sixty degrees and 90 degree increments. Alright. So let's say I have these two placed where I wanted to.

Again, same thing. I I'd like to I'd like to turn them off just for cleanliness. And, also, you if you look on the floor plan, it looks pretty clean here. So let's tag them. Let's see. Annotate. We're gonna tag by category, and I'm gonna hit that one and that one. And then let's say you're gonna click on the question mark and type in 30. There you go. There's 30 foot candles or not 30 foot candle, 30 candela.

And let's go ahead and that's it. I mean, that's all I really show for fire alarms. We're gonna go ahead and put a pull station here. So system, fire alarm devices, and I'm just gonna type in pull for pull station. Perfect. And we're gonna put that here. And here, I'll I'll drop a let's put a ceiling strobe, like, in the break room, for instance. Ceiling. Orange strobe. And, yeah, fifth I'm pretty sure fifteen is enough. I'm gonna hop over here to the systems plan. Yeah. Fifteen is plenty. It's actually perfect. So I'm gonna click on this.

I'm gonna turn it off. Another reason for turning it off, like, if you were to keep it on, you can you can see that if you go over to systems plan, like, you can see how I can here. Like, I'm a move this over here. And see how I can I can actually hover, like, way out here and still pick up the fixture? I don't really want that. So if I turn this off, it actually collapses the coverage area to pretty much nothing so that you have to select the fixture right on top of it. It allows me to not accidentally pick it. If I had this turned on, you can see if I just box down here, it it ends up picking up this fixture. So I don't want that. And the other thing is tagging.

So let's say I'm gonna tag this, and we're gonna call this 15 candela. And, like, I noticed this later. If I click on this and I remove the tag, you see how it's like it moves the it moves the tags a little bit. If you were to jump up to an even bigger box, I believe, it, like, it jumps around a little bit. Okay.

Well, now it's staying put, but you saw how before it, like, kinda moved the tag a little bit, and I don't really care for that. So turn off the turn off the coverage area once you're done using it, and then tag it. But, yeah, once you tag it, it stays with it, so it's really nice. It'll stay with it even if it rotates. Okay. So there you go. We tag devices. Or I'm sorry. We place devices. We tag them. We talked about the coverage area, and that looks pretty good. So go ahead and start placing all your devices.
