Editing Receptacle Loads Instance-Based

Electrical · Power Fundamentals · 2m

This lesson teaches you how to edit receptacle loads on an instance-based level in Revit. You'll learn how to adjust the apparent load for individual receptacles without affecting others, allowing for precise load management in your electrical designs.

Key topics include changing receptacle loads, understanding instance-based load carriers, and reviewing panel board schedules to track total receptacle loads effectively.

Transcript

To change the receptacle load, simply click on the receptacle and then look over here under electrical loads. If you can type in a load in the S elect apparent load category, that means this receptacle is an instance based load carrier. So every instance of these, this one, if I change the receptacle load on this receptacle here, let's say I change it to 1,000 and I hit enter, it will only affect this receptacle. If I click on the next one over, you can see that this one is back to one eighty and this one stays at one eighty. So these are great for when you have different low different loads and you don't wanna use a different type for each receptacle.

This is fine for like if you have a couple countertop receptacles and then let's say this one's gonna be plugged into a coffee machine. So we can change this one to a thousand and then the other two will stay on a 180 because we don't have a load assigned to it. And then you can circuit this all together using the same family and this will work just fine. Now if you were to check the panel board schedule over here, you can see that this tallies up the total load in all of the receptacles. If you needed to change any of the other ones, you can click this one.

I'll hit 500 and there you go. You can see that this one will say circuit number 120 volts 500 VA. And then if I click the adjacent one, this one's a thousand and each one will have its own separate load. This one up here remains at one eighty and this is for an instance base receptacle.
